An unexpectedly hard shot by Joseph Bergström in the 22nd minute of play forced Boca Juniors's goalkeeper Abel Lleir to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. After the first half Liogener were leading 0-3. They had played with great self confidence throughout the first half and fully deserved their lead.

The wind increased when Bernardino Afonso made the kick off in the second half. With his leg Abel Lleir managed to avoid a goal in the 57thth minute, when Liogener's Gerardo Hulberto fired away a shot with a lot of spin towards his right hand side. In the 59th minute, Boca Juniors's Fabian Boniel seemed to kick out at an opponent. The referee saw this and, surprisingly, showed Fabian Boniel the red card, dismissing him from the pitch. The coaching staff of Boca Juniors protested bitterly, but the referee would have none of it, and Fabian Boniel had no choice but to slowly walk off the pitch. In the 60th match minute, Boca Juniors was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Fabian Boniel to maneuver through the defense. 69 minutes into the match, Gerardo Hulberto dribbled the ball past the defender and swiftly kicked the ball to the left of Abel Lleir, 0-4. Abel Lleir had great luck who in the 82ndth minute grab hold of the ball when Gerardo Hulberto from a short distance tried to put the ball inside the right post. 92 minutes into the match, Boca Juniors's goal looked a bit too open when Gerardo Hulberto came free, but Abel Lleir reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line.
