The corner ended in Ciriaco Ovando almost managing to get the ball behind the net, but Azul F.C.'s Agustin Barrionuevo did a great save. In the 45th play minute Victorio Galeno came free and shot an unsuspected shot which went into goal from the right pole behind a surprised Agustin Barrionuevo. 1-0. When the referee blew for the end of the half the home team players were clearly happier, as they went in to the break leading 2-0.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Celso Raulo to make the kick off. Azul F.C.'s supporters were dissatisfied at the end of the match because Unión AFC had won, even though Azul F.C. had held more of the ball.
