Arnoldo Micael was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it. An unexpectedly hard shot by Andrés Ortiz in the 34th minute of play forced Merceditas's goalkeeper Arnoldo Micael to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Merceditas's Arnoldo Micael played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Andrés Ortiz in the 37th minute of play. Arnoldo Micael showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Andrés Ortiz, who was totally free with the ball in the 39th minute. Andrés Ortiz sent away a hard shot on goal in the 42nd minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Andrés Ortiz received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 43rd minute. Arnoldo Micael tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. If Andrés Ortiz had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 44th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. The Deportivo San Fierro fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 0-2. Disappointed in the 0-2 score, the home team went to the dressing room to adjust tactics for the second half.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Andrés Ortiz to make the kick off.
