The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. 3 minutes into the match, Medialunen Sporten's Roman Uhin sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Saul Bernaldo narrowly saved just below the crossbar. The supporters of Congreso booed when Medialunen Sporten was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 5 match minutes in a wonderful position. Maximo Endira didn't get a good kick on the ball. Saul Bernaldo took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Roman Uhin, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Guaberto Gabino fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 22nd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Saul Bernaldo having to interfere. Constantino Frichoso kicked well hit freekick during the 28th minute of the match. In the 30th minute, Guaberto Gabino reached a very good position and smashed the ball with a huge effort into the net, just to the left of Saul Bernaldo. The goal made the score 1-0. Saul Bernaldo showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Alfonso Cambranes, who was totally free with the ball in the 37th minute. Roman Uhin received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 38th minute. Saul Bernaldo tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Zenon Bator kicked well hit freekick during the 39th minute of the match. An unexpectedly hard shot by Roman Uhin in the 40th minute of play forced Congreso's goalkeeper Saul Bernaldo to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. If Constantino Frichoso had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 43rd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. After a rather tough play, Congreso's Albano Gipuzkoa got a free kick in the 53rd minute. When Mauricio Hats fell near the penalty area in the 60th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Congreso's protests and gave Mauricio Hats a yellow card for diving instead. A collision led to Congreso getting a freekick after 60 minutes play. Mauricio Hats hit a great ball. Congreso's Saul Bernaldo played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Guaberto Gabino in the 63rd minute of play. After having played for 66 minutes, Guaberto Gabino managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Medialunen Sporten's supporters crossed their fingers, but Guaberto Gabino was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Congreso made a substitution. Teo Chuan replaced Tadeo Romano. In the 73rd minute, Roman Uhin ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Saul Bernaldo was frozen by the shot and now it was 2-0. When Modesto Michael fell near the penalty area in the 77th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Medialunen Sporten's protests and gave Modesto Michael a yellow card for diving instead. In the 77th match minute, Medialunen Sporten was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Modesto Michael to maneuver through the defense. When Guaberto Gabino came up free with the goalie in the 89th minute, the Medialunen Sporten fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Guaberto Gabino couldn't finish the play. Saul Bernaldo showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Roman Uhin, who was totally free with the ball in the 93rd minute. After a defensive mix-up in Congreso's zone, Guaberto Gabino stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Saul Bernaldo came out of the goal and Guaberto Gabino tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Medialunen Sporten's fans were exulted and cheered after their team won in a match that could easily have gone the other way.
