When Christian Cortez fell near the penalty area in the 18th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored C.A SAN NICOLAS's protests and gave Christian Cortez a yellow card for diving instead. C.A SAN NICOLAS's Benedicto Eguen played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Angelo Erroman in the 21st minute of play. The supporters of Veléz Sarsfield booed when C.A SAN NICOLAS was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 22 match minutes in a wonderful position. Christian Cortez didn't get a good kick on the ball. Veléz Sarsfield's players went to the stands to thank the travelling support. The fan's backing had helped spurr the team on to a fine performance that won them the match.
