El Ancla F.C's supporters crossed their fingers, but Manni Leguade was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Melquiades Eli made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Melquiades Torres in the 19th minute of play. When Cornelio Maldonado fell near the penalty area in the 20th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored JUAN SEBASTIAN VERÓN's protests and gave Cornelio Maldonado a yellow card for diving instead. A collision led to JUAN SEBASTIAN VERÓN getting a freekick after 20 minutes play. Cornelio Maldonado hit a great ball. Berkan Özge recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 26th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Berkan Özge sent away a hard shot on goal in the 29th minute, but the ball hit the crossbar and went out. A very good chance for a goal. 34 minutes into the match, JUAN SEBASTIAN VERÓN's Berkan Özge sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Carlos Betadur narrowly saved just below the crossbar. A collision led to El Ancla F.C getting a freekick after 36 minutes play. Melquiades Torres hit a great ball. After a rather tough play, JUAN SEBASTIAN VERÓN's Dionisio Fonso got a free kick in the 42nd minute. JUAN SEBASTIAN VERÓN's Melquiades Eli played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Melquiades Torres in the 43rd minute of play. An unexpectedly hard shot by Honorato Txindoki in the 47th minute of play forced JUAN SEBASTIAN VERÓN's goalkeeper Melquiades Eli to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. The first half was very even, with the score at 0-0 when the whistle went for half-time. The players welcomed the break and quickly retired to the dressing rooms.

53 minutes into the match, Jorge Neto had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Carlos Betadur. El Ancla F.C's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Jorge Neto was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 1-0. Carlos Betadur made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Berkan Özge in the 56th minute of play. Berkan Özge sent away a hard shot on goal in the 59th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. In the 60th match minute, JUAN SEBASTIAN VERÓN was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Siro Servando to maneuver through the defense. After 65 played minutes El Ancla F.C got a freekick which was hit by Antonio Cordareo. JUAN SEBASTIAN VERÓN's Ole-Gunnar Nesland was substituted for Berkan Özge. Antonio Cordareo hit a great freekick 67 minutes into the match. In the 69th minute of the game Benjamin Amor made a throw-in which Manni Leguade played forward. Carlos Betadur took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Ole-Gunnar Nesland, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. 76 minutes into the game, JUAN SEBASTIAN VERÓN's Ole-Gunnar Nesland nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Carlos Betadur made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 2-0. The throw-in from Armando Ekialde in the 79th minute of the game was unfortunally taken care of by El Ancla F.C's Antonio Cordareo. Through an outstanding action, after 80 minutes, Melquiades Eli successfully got his hands on the ball before it slid into the goal at the right post. JUAN SEBASTIAN VERÓN's Vivaldo Pernambucano was substituted for Jorge Neto. If Ole-Gunnar Nesland had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 94th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. El Ancla F.C's players left the field with heads hung low after losing a match that had been finely balanced throughout.
