An unexpectedly hard shot by Juan Riquelme in the 7th minute of play forced Walt's goalkeeper Enrique Madaleno to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Enrique Madaleno made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Honorato Montel in the 12th minute of play. In the 13th minute Juan Riquelme shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Enrique Madaleno saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. After some fancy dribbling in the 16th minute, Juan Riquelme managed to get in a good position for a shot. Club Atletico Progreso's supporters rose to their feet, but Juan Riquelme was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Enrique Madaleno breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. In the 18th minute of the match, Valdir Correia tried to roll the ball into the goal by the right post, but Isidro Medero saw his intentions and got control of the ball before it passed the line. Honorato Pacifico kicked well hit freekick during the 20th minute of the match. If Roman Ihazintu had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 21st minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. Isidro Medero took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Diego Martinelli, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. After a rather tough play, Walt's Teodoro Firmin got a free kick in the 29th minute. When Arturo Paz came up free with the goalie in the 29th minute, the Club Atletico Progreso fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Arturo Paz couldn't finish the play. After 32 minutes of play, Club Atletico Progreso's Juan Riquelme made it 0-1 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Enrique Madaleno was left in no man's land by his defense there! The supporters of Club Atletico Progreso booed when Walt was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 35 match minutes in a wonderful position. Valdir Correia didn't get a good kick on the ball. Juan Riquelme took the ball and in the 38 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Enrique Madaleno. Enrique Madaleno dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 0-2. An unexpectedly hard shot by Honorato Montel in the 41st minute of play forced Walt's goalkeeper Enrique Madaleno to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. An unexpectedly hard shot by Delfim Andrade in the 42nd minute of play forced Walt's goalkeeper Enrique Madaleno to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Juan Riquelme in the 43rd managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Enrique Madaleno saved Walt from getting behind. Disappointed in the 0-2 score, the home team went to the dressing room to adjust tactics for the second half.

The wind increased when Honorato Montel made the kick off in the second half. Walt's Enrique Madaleno played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Juan Riquelme in the 52nd minute of play. After 53 played minutes Walt got a freekick which was hit by Remigio Sustrai. Enrique Madaleno made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Juan Riquelme in the 55th minute of play. 58 minutes into the match, Walt's goal looked a bit too open when Juan Riquelme came free, but Enrique Madaleno reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. The supporters of Club Atletico Progreso booed when Walt was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 67 match minutes in a wonderful position. Emilio Rafel didn't get a good kick on the ball. 74 minutes into the match, Honorato Montel had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Enrique Madaleno. Walt's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Honorato Montel was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 0-3. Juan Riquelme scored 0-4 in the 79th match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of Enrique Madaleno, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot. 82 minutes into the match, Walt's goalkeeper Enrique Madaleno had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Honorato Montel. After some careless play in the Walt defense, Juan Riquelme kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Enrique Madaleno. The Walt fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Enrique Madaleno should have stopped the shot. Justo Pagomari hit a great freekick 87 minutes into the match. Enrique Madaleno showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Delfim Andrade in the 89th minute of the match. Enrique Madaleno made an important save on a dangerous shot by Honorato Montel in the 92nd minute. Enrique Madaleno made a fantastic save in the 95th minute, when Honorato Montel sent off a good shot on target. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Nicasio Quinto during the 95th minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. A collision led to Walt getting a freekick after 96 minutes play. Nicasio Quinto hit a great ball. When the match was over Club Atletico Progreso could go home with a victory in their luggage, having controlled the game far better than Walt throughout the match.
