Ildefonso Eguen recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 20th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Pascual Jenaro blasted a shot towards the goal in the 24th minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Bernardino Errapel having to make a save. If Ariel Salvino had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 29th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Bernardino Errapel showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Pascual Jenaro in the 31st minute of the match. 34 minutes into the game, Pascual Jenaro cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 0-1. Bernardino Errapel was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. If Pascual Jenaro had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 42nd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. 47 minutes into the match, Palacios AFC's goal looked a bit too open when Albert Piţurcă came free, but Bernardino Errapel reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line.

Pascual Jenaro succeeded in the game's 52nd minute to shoot an unreachable shot under the crossbar and scored - 0-2. If Pascual Jenaro had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 56th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. In the 58th minute the ball was on its way in behind Palacios AFC's goalkeeper Bernardino Errapel, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. Gelsenkirchen-Schalke 04's Pascual Jenaro got a good chance for a goal in the 60th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Arnulfo Erlantz's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Bernardino Errapel read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 68th minute of play. Albert Piţurcă fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 94th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Bernardino Errapel having to interfere. Gelsenkirchen-Schalke 04's fans were overjoyed with their teams well-earned victory and stayed in the stadium long after the final whistle to celebrate the win.
