Paulo Garikoitz made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 0-1. Estudiantes LP's Blas Urtun proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 8th minute of the match, managed to save Estudiantes LP from getting a goal against them. Blas Urtun made a fantastic save in the 9th minute, when Gustavo Nazario sent off a good shot on target. Blas Urtun made a fantastic save in the 13th minute, when Jairo Urbasa sent off a good shot on target. Romulo Bernaldo kicked well hit freekick during the 14th minute of the match. Elias Santikurtz made in the 18th minute of the game a throw-in that took a bad bounce and was taken care of by C.A Boca Juniors's Justo Bastia. Fabricio Ihazintu recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 19th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. After 27 played minutes Estudiantes LP got a freekick which was hit by Elias Santikurtz. Blas Urtun was out of position in the 29 minute of play, and Elpidio Abancens capitalized on the mistake with a soft shot into the goal. Elpidio Abancens really showed his touch with that goal: 2-1. Blas Urtun showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Gustavo Nazario in the 33rd minute of the match. In the 40th minute of the match, Elpidio Abancens tried to roll the ball into the goal by the right post, but Blas Urtun saw his intentions and got control of the ball before it passed the line. Blas Urtun took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Gustavo Nazario, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. 43 minutes into the game, C.A Boca Juniors's Jairo Urbasa nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Blas Urtun made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 3-1. All the noise was coming from the home fans when the whistle went for half-time. The home team had fought hardest to put themselves in a deserved lead.

When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Fabricio Ihazintu made a kick off. Paulo Garikoitz took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Fabricio Ihazintu, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. 57 minutes into the game, Fabricio Ihazintu was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Estudiantes LP's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave C.A Boca Juniors the free kick. After a rather tough play, Estudiantes LP's Fabricio Ihazintu got a free kick in the 57th minute. The C.A Boca Juniors fans' excitement grew in the 60th match minute when C.A Boca Juniors's Gustavo Nazario looked to have a clear shot with the ball near the goal. The shot wasn't hard, but the ball still rolled over the goal line to make it 4-1 before the goalkeeper had a chance to intervene. Elpidio Abancens sent away a hard shot on goal in the 67th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Paulo Garikoitz showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Fabricio Ihazintu, who was totally free with the ball in the 71st minute. Estudiantes LP's Blas Urtun played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Jairo Urbasa in the 74th minute of play. Gustavo Nazario took the ball and in the 75 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Blas Urtun. Blas Urtun dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 5-1. Gustavo Nazario sent away a hard shot on goal in the 80th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. The audience was convinced that Jairo Urbasa's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Blas Urtun was relentless in the 82nd minute of the game. When the match had gone on for 85 minutes, Gustavo Nazario put it in 6-1 from a short distance just to the right of Blas Urtun. Blas Urtun made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Gustavo Nazario in the 89th minute of play. After some careless play in the Estudiantes LP defense, Elpidio Abancens kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Blas Urtun. The Estudiantes LP fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Blas Urtun should have stopped the shot. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Elpidio Abancens in the 95th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Blas Urtun saved Estudiantes LP from getting behind.
