Mauricio Criston tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Atletico de Rafaela's Mauricio Criston played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Braulio Gabino in the 14th minute of play. After 15 played minutes Machagai FC got a freekick which was hit by Amadeo Dayam. An unexpectedly hard shot by Arnaldo Rivas in the 18th minute of play forced Atletico de Rafaela's goalkeeper Mauricio Criston to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. 19 minutes into the game, Amadeo Dayam cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 0-3. Mauricio Criston was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. Braulio Gabino struck a weak shot in the 25th minute. Mauricio Criston didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Machagai FC. Erubiel Truylos fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 30th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Anastasio Aguilera having to interfere. Anastasio Aguilera took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Erubiel Truylos, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. In the 35th minute, Braulio Gabino made a precise shot to the right of Mauricio Criston. Atletico de Rafaela's defense was at fault, and the scoreboard reflected the new score, 0-4. The crowd rose to their feet as Atletico de Rafaela's Arnulfo Eleazar slotted home a wonderful shot that went in to the left of Anastasio Aguilera. That made the score 1-4 after 43 minutes of play. Braulio Gabino sent away a hard shot on goal in the 47th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Disappointed in the 1-4 score, the home team went to the dressing room to adjust tactics for the second half.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Erubiel Truylos stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. After a rather tough play, Machagai FC's Dario Chaime got a free kick in the 52nd minute. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Julio Domingues during the 56th minute. Machagai FC's Arnaldo Rivas got a good chance for a goal in the 93rd minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Mauricio Criston made a fantastic save in the 95th minute, when Braulio Gabino sent off a good shot on target. The Machagai FC supporters could be heard counting down the last seconds of the match. They errupted in celebration when the whistle blew, knowing Machagai FC would go home with victory in their luggage after a match that easily could have ended differently.
