Everardo Frichoso showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Carolo Bermudo, who was totally free with the ball in the 33rd minute. 36 minutes into the match, 9 de julio's goal looked a bit too open when Carolo Bermudo came free, but Everardo Frichoso reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. 39 minutes into the match, Jairo Veremundo had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Everardo Frichoso. 9 de julio's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Jairo Veremundo was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 0-1. Rafael Lain kicked well hit freekick during the 43rd minute of the match. Godfredo Rioja who was well placed in front of the goal fired away a dangerous shot that in the 44thth minute tested the skills of Reynaldo Marz when he managed to save the team from getting behind. Disappointed in the 0-1 score, the home team went to the dressing room to adjust tactics for the second half.

The wind increased when Carolo Bermudo made the kick off in the second half. A collision led to 9 de julio getting a freekick after 52 minutes play. Timoteo Cresencio hit a great ball. Carolo Bermudo fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 60th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Everardo Frichoso having to interfere. 9 de julio's Everardo Frichoso proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 61st minute of the match, managed to save 9 de julio from getting a goal against them. Baños FC's Reynaldo Marz played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Augusto Lekubegi in the 70th minute of play. The supporters of Baños FC booed when 9 de julio was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 87 match minutes in a wonderful position. Victor Maura didn't get a good kick on the ball. When 9 de julio's Godfredo Rioja in the 94th minute got a chance for a shot 94th didn't hesitate and placed the ball to the right of the goalie.
