Marcelo Milio came free with the goalkeeper in the 9th minute of the match, and shot straight on target. The shot was a little too simple and Cosme Lertxun could save by the left post. Cosme Lertxun made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Adolfo Felipo in the 11th minute of play. After 12 minutes, Eustacio Felipillo mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Esperanza FC and the Club Atlético River Plate players grew even worse after the yellow card. Aquilino Figueroa stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Serafin Flores's shot from short distance in the 30th minute. Aquilino Figueroa made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Serafin Flores in the 37th minute of play. 38 minutes into the game, Everardo Brun was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. In the 47th minute Jorge Felipo shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Aquilino Figueroa saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Af the end of the first half the score was 2-1. The first half had gone as expected for the home team.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Adolfo Felipo to make the kick off. 53 minutes into the match, Club Atlético River Plate's goalkeeper Aquilino Figueroa had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Serafin Flores. Cesar Txatxu took a chance and fired a shot far from the goal in the 55th minute, but it turned out to be a dangerous situation for Aquilino Figueroa. Club Atlético River Plate's goalkeeper really had to stretch himself to stop the ball from crossing the goal line. In the 92nd minute, Lia Ochandiano got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. After a rather tough play, Club Atlético River Plate's Kubrat Dilovski got a free kick in the 94th minute. When the referee blew the final whistle, Club Atlético River Plate could leave the field as winners, despite Esperanza FC having more of the ball for most of the match.
