Adrian Macerio fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 21st minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Aureliano Nuno having to interfere. Eugenio Nardo took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Alejandro Gaizko, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. The audience thought a goal was coming when Jorge Hibai got free with Eugenio Nardo in the 27th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. 28 minutes into the game, Zaire's Benicio Lawrence nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Luck had favoured the away team in the first, and they walked off with a 0-1 lead.

When Adrian Macerio came up free with the goalie in the 80th minute, the Zaire fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Adrian Macerio couldn't finish the play. Adrian Macerio recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 82nd minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Zaire's manager could be seen on the sidelines shaking his head and muttering to himself as his team had just wasted another chance. If Romulo Errapel had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 91st minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Eugenio Nardo made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Alejandro Gaizko in the 95th minute of play. In the 97th minute, Alejandro Gaizko left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. The Brinkman AFC fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 2-1. When the referee blew the final whistle, Brinkman AFC could leave the field as winners, despite Zaire having more of the ball for most of the match.
