The ball could have gone into the goal to the right of the goalkeeper, but Godfredo Bertran showed his good shape when he easily got hold of the ball. An unexpectedly hard shot by Luisito Thomas in the 18th minute of play forced estudiantes's goalkeeper Edelmiro Abilio to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. 19 minutes into the match, estudiantes's goal looked a bit too open when Jaime Urko came free, but Edelmiro Abilio reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. With an all-out effort, estudiantes's Godfredo Bertran threw himself towards the right post 23 minutes into the match and grabbed hold of the ball from José Carlos Favoretto, which otherwise would have been placed in the net. In the 29th minute, estudiantes's Pastor Seber ran free of his marker and smoothly shot the ball into the goal behind Godfredo Bertran. Godfredo Bertran yelled at his defense, as they had left him out to dry. 1-0. Godfredo Bertran showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from José Carlos Favoretto in the 32nd minute of the match. After 32 played minutes El Goni FC got a freekick which was hit by Nestor Berdoi. In the 36th minute, estudiantes's José Carlos Favoretto dribbled the ball into the box and hit a shot with the outside of his foot, sending the keeper the wrong way. 2-0. If Ulises Chuse had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 39th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Enrique Gerazan charged in rather forcefully in the 42nd minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Enrique Gerazan the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play.

When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Luisito Thomas made a kick off. Pastor Seber scored 3-0 in the 52nd match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of Godfredo Bertran, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot. Jaime Urko sent away a hard shot on goal in the 56th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. When the match had gone on for 58 minutes, Luisito Thomas took a quick shot and it went in 3-1 without a chance for Edelmiro Abilio to make any attempt to save it. After some fancy dribbling in the 61st minute, Ulises Chuse managed to get in a good position for a shot. estudiantes's supporters rose to their feet, but Ulises Chuse was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Godfredo Bertran breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. In the 63rd minute, José Carlos Favoretto ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Godfredo Bertran was frozen by the shot and now it was 4-1. El Goni FC's Godfredo Bertran played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by José Carlos Favoretto in the 67th minute of play. Jaime Urko sent away a hard shot on goal in the 68th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Luisito Thomas was extremely unlucky when he, in the 77th minute, took a shot that hit the right post and went out. During the 79th minute of the match Enrique Gerazan completely mistimed his tackle and brought down his opponent. The referee gave Enrique Gerazan a yellow card, his second in the match, which meant he could no longer take part in the game. José Carlos Favoretto took the ball and in the 87 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Godfredo Bertran. Godfredo Bertran dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 6-2. Pastor Seber received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 91st minute. Godfredo Bertran tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. There was no doubt that estudiantes were the better team. estudiantes's players enjoyed the ovations of the crowd after the victory.
