Olaeta AFC's Felipe Reynardo got a good chance for a goal in the 4th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Justo Osoro fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 6th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Fernando Fidele having to interfere. If Zygmunt Witwicki had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 8th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Roberto Frances didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Zygmunt Witwicki went, in the 10th minute, to the upper right corner, 0-1 was the resulting score. In the 13th minute, Zygmunt Witwicki got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. After some fancy dribbling in the 15th minute, Justo Osoro managed to get in a good position for a shot. Olaeta AFC's supporters rose to their feet, but Justo Osoro was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Fernando Fidele breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. After 24 minutes, Felipe Reynardo mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Olaeta AFC and the Atletico Madrid players grew even worse after the yellow card. After 24 played minutes Olaeta AFC got a freekick which was hit by Felipe Reynardo. The supporters of Atletico Madrid booed when Olaeta AFC was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 25 match minutes in a wonderful position. Justo Osoro didn't get a good kick on the ball. 29 minutes into the game, Zygmunt Witwicki cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 0-2. Roberto Frances was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. After a rather tough play, Atletico Madrid's Cosme Benvido got a free kick in the 34th minute. Fernando Fidele took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Felipe Reynardo, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. With a little luck, Atletico Madrid's Fernando Fidele got control of the ball when Celedonio Gar tried to sneak it across the goal line. The supporters of Atletico Madrid booed when Olaeta AFC was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 42 match minutes in a wonderful position. Omar Rosalio didn't get a good kick on the ball. Aaron Vincent scored 0-3 in the 45th match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of Roberto Frances, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot. Even after changing tactics the home team jogged off the field with a 0-3 deficit. They would have to work harder if they wanted to turn things around in the second half.
Fernando Fidele showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Felipe Reynardo, who was totally free with the ball in the 53rd minute. Aaron Vincent blasted a shot towards the goal in the 55th minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Roberto Frances having to make a save. 58 minutes into the match, Atletico Madrid's goal looked a bit too open when Cristian Errapel came free, but Fernando Fidele reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Aaron Vincent received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 62nd minute. Roberto Frances tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. 65 minutes into the match, Atletico Madrid's goal looked a bit too open when Felipe Reynardo came free, but Fernando Fidele reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Gaspar Corderro recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 66th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. After 67 played minutes Olaeta AFC got a freekick which was hit by Cristian Errapel. In the 70th minute, Omar Rosalio hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Roberto Frances made a fantastic save in the 72nd minute, when Woody Welsh sent off a good shot on target. The audience was convinced that Felipe Reynardo's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Fernando Fidele was relentless in the 73rd minute of the game. In the 74th minute Justo Osoro shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Fernando Fidele saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Atletico Madrid's Fernando Fidele played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Felipe Reynardo in the 75th minute of play. In the 77th minute, Woody Welsh hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Atletico Madrid's Aaron Vincent got a good chance for a goal in the 91st minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Javier Medero kicked well hit freekick during the 93rd minute of the match. Atletico Madrid's players went to the stands to thank the travelling support. The fan's backing had helped spurr the team on to a fine performance that won them the match.
