The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. In the 3rd minute, Eleuterio Bautista got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. Chumbicha FC's Celestino Elodio proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 9th minute of the match, managed to save Chumbicha FC from getting a goal against them. Celestino Elodio made a fantastic save in the 12th minute, when Dante Calixto sent off a good shot on target. Celestino Elodio took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Ubaldo Frances, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. If Eleuterio Bautista had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 16th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Alvaro Goyo charged in rather forcefully in the 29th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Alvaro Goyo the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. After a rather tough play, Chumbicha FC's Alvaro Goyo got a free kick in the 29th minute. Chumbicha FC were furious when Alvaro Goyo was red carded, 38 minutes into the game, but the referee dismissed their protests. In the 38th minute, one of Chumbicha FC:s players had the ball in front of the goal but got pushed and fell. The referee felt it was an obvious case and blew a penalty for Chumbicha FC. Godofredo Cutberto walked up to take care of the penalty kick. He was aiming for the top corner, but the ball went just outside the post. The fans had the chance to grab some refreshments as the whistle went for half-time. The score stood at 0-0 after a close first half.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Ubaldo Frances to make the kick off. Celestino Elodio showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Ubaldo Frances, who was totally free with the ball in the 51st minute. Eleuterio Bautista sent away a hard shot on goal in the 58th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. If Eleuterio Bautista had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 63rd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. After 64 played minutes SAN JUAN CF got a freekick which was hit by Dante Calixto. Eleuterio Bautista ran back to his position shaking his head. After a rather tough play, Chumbicha FC's Eleuterio Bautista got a free kick in the 70th minute. In the 71st minute, Isidro Vigil hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. SAN JUAN CF's Godofredo Cutberto couldn't find anyone to pass the ball to, so he shot a long shot towards the goal in the 73rd minute. The shot went wide which resulted in a goal kick for Chumbicha FC. Celestino Elodio showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Ubaldo Frances, who was totally free with the ball in the 78th minute. Silvestre Bernad showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Eleuterio Bautista in the 85th minute of the match. After some fancy dribbling in the 86th minute, Eleuterio Bautista managed to get in a good position for a shot. Chumbicha FC's supporters rose to their feet, but Eleuterio Bautista was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Silvestre Bernad breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Eleuterio Bautista fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 89th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Silvestre Bernad having to interfere. Eleuterio Bautista recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 94th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. When the referee blew the final whistle, you could see the dissatisfaction in the Chumbicha FC players' eyes. They were disappointed they hadn't taken more from the game.
