Zeledon Hanot scored 0-1 in the 11th match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of Fernand Casagrande, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot. 20 minutes into the game, Vinicio Resto was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Tambillo FC's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Gilbert the free kick. Sebastian Lluc kicked well hit freekick during the 22nd minute of the match. After 25 minutes of play, Gilbert's Zeledon Hanot made it 0-3 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Fernand Casagrande was left in no man's land by his defense there! Zeledon Hanot sent away a hard shot on goal in the 29th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Fernand Casagrande prevented the ball from getting in the gole. Fernand Casagrande took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Cosme Illan, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. During the 41st minute of the match Vinicio Resto completely mistimed his tackle and brought down his opponent. The referee gave Vinicio Resto a yellow card, his second in the match, which meant he could no longer take part in the game. In the 47th minute, Cosme Illan got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. After the first half Gilbert were leading 0-4. They had played with great self confidence throughout the first half and fully deserved their lead.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Gervasio Acosta to make the kick off. Sebastian Lluc kicked well hit freekick during the 51st minute of the match. In the 52nd minute of the match Gerardo Sanchez sent off a long shot with destination to the right of the goalkeeper, but Fernand Casagrande skillfully saved the ball. The corner went over the outstretched arms of Tambillo FC's goalie and right to Emanuel Mazuste. He fired away a shot at goal, but the shot had too much spin, and it went just outside the goal. Tambillo FC's manager breathed a sigh of relief on the sidelines as his team had managed to escape an almost certain goal.
