A sloppy throw-in by Pascual Bibiano in the 3rd minute of the game went astray and was snapped up by Sarmiento AFC's Teodoro Aragones. C.A. River Plate's Lázaro Blai played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Sebastian Erramu in the 10th minute of play. If Sebastian Erramu had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 17th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. The supporters of C.A. River Plate booed when Sarmiento AFC was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 21 match minutes in a wonderful position. Sebastian Erramu didn't get a good kick on the ball. Sarmiento AFC's Sebastian Erramu got a good chance for a goal in the 27th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. If Sebastian Erramu had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 29th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Ruperto Lucado during the 30th minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. In the 30th minute, Ruperto Lucado hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Lázaro Blai made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Sebastian Erramu in the 38th minute of play. Laureano Nuxila struck a weak shot in the 39th minute. Lázaro Blai didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Sarmiento AFC. Teofilo Piorno's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Lázaro Blai read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 44th minute of play. Sebastian Erramu fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 46th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Lázaro Blai having to interfere. The score stood at 0-0 when the half time whistle went. Both sets of players seemed reasonably pleased with how the match was going.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Edelmiro Ponc stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. Lázaro Blai showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Sebastian Erramu, who was totally free with the ball in the 52nd minute. After some careless play in the C.A. River Plate defense, Sebastian Erramu kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Lázaro Blai. The C.A. River Plate fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Lázaro Blai should have stopped the shot. Pascual Bibiano hit a great freekick 56 minutes into the match. Edelmiro Ponc in the 69thth minute had a little luck and got a chance for a shot in front of the goal. Teodoro Aragones took a chance and fired a shot far from the goal in the 93rd minute, but it turned out to be a dangerous situation for Lázaro Blai. C.A. River Plate's goalkeeper really had to stretch himself to stop the ball from crossing the goal line. Edelmiro Ponc charged in rather forcefully in the 93rd minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Edelmiro Ponc the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. In the 94th match minute, C.A. River Plate was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Edelmiro Ponc to maneuver through the defense. C.A. River Plate's players left the field with heads hung low after losing a match that had been finely balanced throughout.
