In the 5th minute Anacleto Eliu shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Dionisio Gines saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Dionisio Gines took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Anacleto Eliu, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Palmita el 10's Dionisio Gines played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Carlos Azevedo in the 15th minute of play. After 18 played minutes Palmita el 10 got a freekick which was hit by Lisandro Cortez. An unexpectedly hard shot by Anacleto Eliu in the 19th minute of play forced Palmita el 10's goalkeeper Dionisio Gines to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Palmita el 10's Dionisio Gines played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Carlos Azevedo in the 20th minute of play. Dionisio Gines came out of the goal in the 23rd minute to try and stop a shot by River Plate's Ramiro Eneto. But to his dismay, Ramiro Eneto quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 0-1. Dionisio Gines showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Carlos Azevedo, who was totally free with the ball in the 31st minute. In the 36th minute there was a penalty for River Plate. Filomeno Jaizki stepped forward and shot the ball to the right of a diving Dionisio Gines. 0-2. In the 39th minute, Palmita el 10's Lisandro Cortez dribbled the ball into the box and hit a shot with the outside of his foot, sending the keeper the wrong way. 1-2. The crowd was extremely unhappy with the home team's performance in the first half. They were losing 1-2.

Carlos Azevedo sent away a hard shot on goal in the 52nd minute, but the ball hit the crossbar and went out. A very good chance for a goal. Dionisio Gines made a fantastic save in the 52nd minute, when Carlos Azevedo sent off a good shot on target. Angelo Noe fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 58th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without David Cristofol having to interfere. If Lisandro Cortez had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 61st minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. 67 minutes into the match, River Plate's goal looked a bit too open when Lisandro Cortez came free, but David Cristofol reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Lisandro Cortez sent away a hard shot on goal in the 68th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. In the 71st minute, Lisandro Cortez made a precise shot to the right of David Cristofol. River Plate's defense was at fault, and the scoreboard reflected the new score, 2-2. When Lisandro Cortez came up free with the goalie in the 78th minute, the Palmita el 10 fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Lisandro Cortez couldn't finish the play. Palmita el 10 made a substitution. Hector Gaur replaced Beppe Maietta. Amancio Donostia's late challenge caught a River Plate's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Amancio Donostia helped the player get up and apologised. The supporters of River Plate booed when Palmita el 10 was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 83 match minutes in a wonderful position. Amancio Donostia didn't get a good kick on the ball. After 86 played minutes River Plate got a freekick which was hit by Omar Orlandus. If Lisandro Cortez had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 89th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Palmita el 10's Marco Aballe quite brazenly broke a throw-in by Apolo Javiero, made in the 91st minute of the game.
