A very good chance. 18 minutes into the match, Leonides Orlondon had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Vicente Aznaro. Encina's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Leonides Orlondon was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 1-0. Abel Toribio took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Hector Sandalio, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. When David Hever fell near the penalty area in the 22nd minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Verón AFC's protests and gave David Hever a yellow card for diving instead. After 23 played minutes Verón AFC got a freekick which was hit by David Hever. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Armando Caetano in the 24th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Abel Toribio saved Verón AFC from getting behind. Vicente Aznaro showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Raimundo Semeno, who was totally free with the ball in the 25th minute. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Armando Caetano in the 26th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Abel Toribio saved Verón AFC from getting behind. Vicente Aznaro showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Raimundo Semeno, who was totally free with the ball in the 30th minute. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Raimundo Semeno in the 32nd minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Vicente Aznaro prevented the ball from getting in the gole. Abel Toribio came out of the goal in the 35th minute to try and stop a shot by Encina's Armando Caetano. But to his dismay, Armando Caetano quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 1-2. In the 40th minute Benedicto Mambru shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Abel Toribio saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Encina's Armando Caetano got a good chance for a goal in the 41st minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. If Hector Sandalio had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 42nd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. The audience was convinced that Armando Caetano's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Abel Toribio was relentless in the 44th minute of the game. Rene Monico struck a weak shot in the 46th minute. Abel Toribio didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Encina. After the first half Encina were leading 1-2. They had played with great self confidence throughout the first half and fully deserved their lead.

The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for Raimundo Semeno to strike the kick off in the second half. The referee blew the whistle for a penalty in the 63rd minute of the game. One of Verón AFC:s players had nearly got his shirt torn off by an opponent while getting free in front of Encina:s goal. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Leonides Orlondon during the 69th minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. The supporters of Encina booed when Verón AFC was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 69 match minutes in a wonderful position. Leonides Orlondon didn't get a good kick on the ball. Abel Toribio made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Hector Sandalio in the 76th minute of play. After 85 played minutes Encina got a freekick which was hit by Omar Beila. Verón AFC's Inocencio Edorta couldn't find anyone to pass the ball to, so he shot a long shot towards the goal in the 86th minute. The shot went wide which resulted in a goal kick for Encina. After a defensive mix-up in Encina's zone, Victorio Gipuzkoa stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Vicente Aznaro came out of the goal and Victorio Gipuzkoa tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Armando Caetano fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 91st minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Abel Toribio having to interfere. If Armando Caetano had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 93rd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. When Armando Caetano came up free with the goalie in the 97th minute, the Encina fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Armando Caetano couldn't finish the play. When the match was over Encina could go home with a victory in their luggage, having controlled the game far better than Verón AFC throughout the match.
