Seating: 7, VIP seats: 0) Gerardo Piarres started the match with the kick off in front of an excited audience. In the 5th minute, Gerardo Piarres got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. Severino Ixaka showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Ariel Burutzagi in the 7th minute of the match. Banfield's Fabian Mendez got a good chance for a goal in the 10th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. In the 18th minute, Fabian Mendez got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. After a defensive mix-up in Pocho Rex's zone, Fabian Mendez stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Lino Efren came out of the goal and Fabian Mendez tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Fabian Mendez scored 1-0 in the 27th match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of Lino Efren, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot. Lino Efren made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Gerardo Piarres in the 34th minute of play. 40 minutes into the match, Ariel Burutzagi had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Severino Ixaka. Banfield's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Ariel Burutzagi was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 1-1. After a very even first half the match was still tied. The players went to their respective dressing rooms to discuss the tactics for the second half.
The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Ariel Burutzagi stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. Banfield's Fabian Mendez got a good chance for a goal in the 57th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Ariel Burutzagi sent away a hard shot on goal in the 62nd minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. 64 minutes into the game, Roque Herrera was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Pocho Rex's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Banfield the free kick. After 64 played minutes Pocho Rex got a freekick which was hit by Roque Herrera. Ariel Burutzagi who was well placed in front of the goal fired away a dangerous shot that in the 68thth minute tested the skills of Severino Ixaka when he managed to save the team from getting behind. After a rather tough play, Pocho Rex's Ermegildo Michael got a free kick in the 72nd minute. Gerardo Piarres sent away a hard shot on goal in the 74th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. If Gerardo Piarres had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 78th minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. In the 82ndth minute of the game Ariel Burutzagi who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but Banfield's Severino Ixaka was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. After having played for 85 minutes, Fabian Mendez managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Banfield's supporters crossed their fingers, but Fabian Mendez was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Severino Ixaka made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Ariel Burutzagi in the 88th minute of play. In the 93rd minute the ball was on its way in behind Pocho Rex's goalkeeper Lino Efren, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. The referee blew the final whistle, and the away crowd roared, having watched Pocho Rex eke out a victory against a very well matched opponent.
