Severino Otsoko made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Americo Mel in the 7th minute of play. Americo Mel hit a great freekick 9 minutes into the match. In the 13th minute Joel Erroman shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Roman Pacifico saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. After 15 played minutes Velez Jr. got a freekick which was hit by Edgardo Goiz. Raimundo Burni fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 17th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Severino Otsoko having to interfere. Severino Otsoko didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Americo Mel went, in the 25th minute, to the upper right corner, 0-2 was the resulting score. Raimundo Burni charged in rather forcefully in the 32nd minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Raimundo Burni the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. In the 32nd minute, Raimundo Burni hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Ramiro Ignazio sent away a hard shot on goal in the 33rd minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. An unexpectedly hard shot by Americo Mel in the 36th minute of play forced Velez Jr.'s goalkeeper Severino Otsoko to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Americo Mel struck a weak shot in the 38th minute. Severino Otsoko didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Lapataia. After a defensive mix-up in Velez Jr.'s zone, Raimundo Burni stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Severino Otsoko came out of the goal and Raimundo Burni tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Severino Otsoko stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Raimundo Burni's shot from short distance in the 42nd minute. Severino Otsoko showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Raimundo Burni in the 47th minute of the match. The crowd was extremely unhappy with the home team's performance in the first half. They were losing 0-2.

When Faustino Fiz fell near the penalty area in the 52nd minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Lapataia's protests and gave Faustino Fiz a yellow card for diving instead. Velez Jr.'s goalkeeper couldn't reach when Americo Mel 55 minutes into the game got a good kick on the ball which found its way into goal just inside left pole. 0-3. After 58 played minutes Velez Jr. got a freekick which was hit by Jesus Ieltxu. The corner led to Lapataia's Raimundo Burni getting away a dangerous shot that went just outside the goal. Raimundo Burni could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 68th minute of the match, but Severino Otsoko made a huge save. Severino Otsoko showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Americo Mel in the 69th minute of the match. After some careless play in the Velez Jr. defense, Raimundo Burni kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Severino Otsoko. The Velez Jr. fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Severino Otsoko should have stopped the shot. Severino Otsoko took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Americo Mel, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Severino Otsoko made an important save on a dangerous shot by Raimundo Burni in the 78th minute. Americo Mel recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 80th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. In the 84th minute Americo Mel shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Severino Otsoko saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Americo Mel might have been able to make a better finish in the 86th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Severino Otsoko. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Americo Mel ran back to his position shaking his head. Severino Otsoko was in the perfect position, and the defense had done a good job marking him, but Americo Mel showcased his skills and made a perfect shot to score 0-5 in the 91 minute of play. In the 96thth minute of the game Americo Mel who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but Velez Jr.'s Severino Otsoko was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. Lapataia played a much better game than Velez Jr. and deserved their victory. The Velez Jr. players were clearly disappointed as they left the ground.
