The coaching staff of Aldosivi protested bitterly, but the referee would have none of it, and Roman Dziedziak had no choice but to slowly walk off the pitch. Roman Dziedziak hit a great freekick 8 minutes into the match. An unexpectedly hard shot by Agustin Piorno in the 10th minute of play forced Aldosivi's goalkeeper Edson-Arantes do Nascimento to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Lucio Emenon hit a great freekick 11 minutes into the match. Edson-Arantes do Nascimento showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Luisito Pueblo, who was totally free with the ball in the 17th minute. When Joel Luzea came up free with the goalie in the 19th minute, the Aldosivi fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Joel Luzea couldn't finish the play. Luisito Pueblo recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 23rd minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Kent Flinck fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 29th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Julio Santiago having to interfere. Aldosivi's Edson-Arantes do Nascimento played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Eriberto Sugoi in the 33rd minute of play. The supporters of Aldosivi booed when genesis was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 34 match minutes in a wonderful position. Eriberto Sugoi didn't get a good kick on the ball. After a rather tough play, Aldosivi's Joel Luzea got a free kick in the 36th minute. In the 39th minute, Kent Flinck made a precise shot to the right of Julio Santiago. genesis's defense was at fault, and the scoreboard reflected the new score, 1-0. Edson-Arantes do Nascimento showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Agustin Piorno, who was totally free with the ball in the 43rd minute. All the noise was coming from the home fans when the whistle went for half-time. The home team had fought hardest to put themselves in a deserved lead.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Agustin Piorno was the one to do the kick off.
