The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. Russell's Abelardo Mano played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Eugenio Lopez de Toro in the 7th minute of play. After a defensive mix-up in Salguero's zone, Eliseo Filipo stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Niceto Cordaryal came out of the goal and Eliseo Filipo tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. After some careless play in the Salguero defense, Eliseo Filipo kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Niceto Cordaryal. The Salguero fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Niceto Cordaryal should have stopped the shot. An unexpectedly hard shot by Aurelio Arnau in the 15th minute of play forced Russell's goalkeeper Abelardo Mano to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. After a rather tough play, Salguero's Juan Huly got a free kick in the 15th minute. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Santos Obeko in the 22nd minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Niceto Cordaryal prevented the ball from getting in the gole. In the 25th minute Aurelio Arnau shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Abelardo Mano saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Russell's Abelardo Mano played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Eugenio Lopez de Toro in the 27th minute of play. If Eugenio Lopez de Toro had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 28th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Ramiro Salomone during the 34th minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. Ramiro Salomone hit a great freekick 34 minutes into the match. Eugenio Lopez de Toro sent away a hard shot on goal in the 40th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. In the 41st minute the ball was on its way in behind Russell's goalkeeper Abelardo Mano, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. Russell's Eliseo Filipo got a good chance for a goal in the 44th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. If Santos Obeko had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 48th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead.

The wind increased when Santos Obeko made the kick off in the second half. Eugenio Lopez de Toro fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 53rd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Abelardo Mano having to interfere. Salguero's Niceto Cordaryal proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 55th minute of the match, managed to save Salguero from getting a goal against them. If Aurelio Arnau had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 57th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. When Salguero's Eugenio Lopez de Toro in the 59th minute got a chance for a shot 59th didn't hesitate and placed the ball to the right of the goalie. Both teams had looked equal from kick-off, and no-one was surprised when the match finally ended in a draw.
