The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. When Lorenzo Manuelo fell near the penalty area in the 42nd minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Peñarol's protests and gave Lorenzo Manuelo a yellow card for diving instead. In the 44th minute 潘泉寒 shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Rodolfo Roldan saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. When the referee blew for the end of the half the home team players were clearly happier, as they went in to the break leading 2-0.

When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Cirilo Onbera made a kick off. An unexpectedly hard shot by Lucas Sasoin in the 53rd minute of play forced Sijes's goalkeeper Rodolfo Roldan to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. In the 88th minute 潘泉寒 shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Rodolfo Roldan saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Rodolfo Roldan took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Lucas Sasoin, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Lucas Sasoin in the 91st minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Rodolfo Roldan prevented the ball from getting in the gole. Lucas Sasoin hit a great freekick 94 minutes into the match. Cirilo Onbera's shot straight on target was not completely harmless. The ball had pretty good speed, but Brett Burgos firmly grabbed it by the left post. The Peñarol players were eager to celebrate when the final whistle sounded. They had somehow managed to win, even though the away team had held the majority of the possession.
