Spectators: 32 (Terracing: 25, Seating: 7, VIP seats: 0) Newells Old Boys's Armando Assunção started the match with a crisp pass. The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. When the match clock showed 3 minutes, the score became 1-0 when Eduardo Gaspar sped through Newells Old Boys's defense and sent away a curving shot that went into the net to the right of Leon Chinto. After 6 minutes, Lech Fedosz mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Newells Old Boys and the Racing Club players grew even worse after the yellow card. With his leg Leon Chinto managed to avoid a goal in the 13thth minute, when Racing Club's Eduardo Gaspar fired away a shot with a lot of spin towards his right hand side. In the 14th minute Racing Club were awarded a corner. Martin Beltza went to the cornerflag to take it. Marciano Criston thought of kicking away a contribution in front of goal but messed it up so badly that the ball went to the right of an astonished Leon Chinto, a very annoying self made goal in the 14th minute which led to 2-0. In the 17th match minute, Racing Club was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Doru Hodorog to maneuver through the defense. Lech Fedosz's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Cristo Papo read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 19th minute of play. Desiderio Quinten kicked well hit freekick during the 22nd minute of the match. When Racing Club's Eduardo Gaspar in the 24th minute got a chance for a shot 24th didn't hesitate and placed the ball to the right of the goalie. Leon Chinto breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. After a rather tough play, Racing Club's Eduardo Gaspar got a free kick in the 27th minute. Cristo Papo made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Armando Assunção in the 29th minute of play. In the 32ndth minute of the game Lech Fedosz who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but Racing Club's Cristo Papo was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. Patricio Anderica sent away a hard shot on goal in the 42nd minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Leon Chinto didn't succeed in stopping the ball in the 45th minute, which inside left pole to 3-0.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Eduardo Gaspar was the one to do the kick off. In the 52nd minute, Eduardo Gaspar left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. The Racing Club fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 4-0. If Patricio Anderica had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 59th minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. Silvestre Eleazar recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 61st minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. When Desiderio Quinten was, once again, overly rough in his play he received his second yellow card and was ordered off the ground. 63 minutes had been played. Eduardo Gaspar recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 68th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. A collision led to Racing Club getting a freekick after 77 minutes play. Octavio Martxot hit a great ball. Armando Assunção kicked well hit freekick during the 81st minute of the match. Racing Club's Patricio Anderica got a good chance for a goal in the 84th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Patricio Anderica blasted a shot towards the goal in the 85th minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Leon Chinto having to make a save. After 88 played minutes Newells Old Boys got a freekick which was hit by Marciano Criston. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Amadeo Esquipula in the 89th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Leon Chinto prevented the ball from getting in the gole. After a rather tough play, Newells Old Boys's Niceto Aires got a free kick in the 91st minute.
