Hélio Cosme blasted a shot towards the goal in the 4th minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Erubiel Gabon having to make a save. The crowd rose to their feet as Vitório Mattos kicked a wonderful shot that went in to the left of a diving Erubiel Gabon. That made the score 1-0 in the 6 minute of play. In the 15th minute, Saul Monte made a precise shot to the right of Ruben Gaur. Universidad de Córdoba's defense was at fault, and the scoreboard reflected the new score, 1-1. Constantino Sadurni charged in rather forcefully in the 21st minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Constantino Sadurni the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. After some careless play in the Universidad de Córdoba defense, Sérgio Ramos kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Ruben Gaur. The Universidad de Córdoba fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Ruben Gaur should have stopped the shot. 33 minutes into the match, Universidad de Córdoba's goal looked a bit too open when Nelson Gaúcho came free, but Ruben Gaur reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Escobar were awarded a corner in the 35th minute after Universidad de Córdoba's defender lost control of the ball, allowing it to roll out over the line. Casimiro Mosen took the corner. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Saul Monte during the 47th minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. The crowd was extremely unhappy with the home team's performance in the first half. They were losing 1-4.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Saul Monte to make the kick off. The crowd rose to their feet as Escobar's Virgílio Arósio slotted home a wonderful shot that went in to the left of Ruben Gaur. That made the score 1-5 after 52 minutes of play. Sérgio Ramos hit a great freekick 54 minutes into the match. Ruben Gaur made an important save on a dangerous shot by Nelson Gaúcho in the 56th minute. Virgílio Arósio sent away a hard shot on goal in the 64th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. A collision led to Universidad de Córdoba getting a freekick after 65 minutes play. Osvaldo Calvino hit a great ball. The supporters of Escobar booed when Universidad de Córdoba was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 73 match minutes in a wonderful position. Marcelino Dalmai didn't get a good kick on the ball. Hélio Cosme took the ball and in the 75 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Erubiel Gabon. Erubiel Gabon dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 2-5. When Nelson Gaúcho came up free with the goalie in the 82nd minute, the Escobar fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Nelson Gaúcho couldn't finish the play. Ruben Gaur made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Virgílio Arósio in the 83rd minute of play. Sérgio Ramos fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 87th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Ruben Gaur having to interfere. 90 minutes into the match, Escobar's goal looked a bit too open when Vitório Mattos came free, but Erubiel Gabon reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. After 93rd play minutes Hélio Cosme shot 3-5, a short shot which went by Erubiel Gabon and just under the crossbar into goal. The away crowd were delighted with the way their team had played and cheered loudly when the final whistle sounded. Escobar walked away with the win, even though the match was close until the end.
