The supporters of Arsenal booed when Huergo was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 5 match minutes in a wonderful position. Victorio Bernard didn't get a good kick on the ball. Huergo's Justo Tximitx played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Ladislao Gomesano in the 6th minute of play. Günekin Şahinkan kicked well hit freekick during the 9th minute of the match. 10 minutes into the match, Huergo's Marcel Oorthuis sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Edgard Ritchie narrowly saved just below the crossbar. Edgard Ritchie made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Alvaro Arotza in the 12th minute of play. Bernabe Joanes fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 14th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Justo Tximitx having to interfere. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Alvaro Arotza in the 23rd minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Edgard Ritchie prevented the ball from getting in the gole. Ladislao Gomesano might have been able to make a better finish in the 38th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Justo Tximitx. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Ladislao Gomesano ran back to his position shaking his head. Bernabe Joanes sent away a hard shot on goal in the 44th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. A collision led to Huergo getting a freekick after 46 minutes play. Evelio Cordeal hit a great ball. The first half was very even, with the score at 0-0 when the whistle went for half-time. The players welcomed the break and quickly retired to the dressing rooms.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Ladislao Gomesano stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. When Huergo's Alvaro Arotza in the 53rd minute got a chance for a shot 53rd didn't hesitate and placed the ball to the right of the goalie. A beautiful save bye Arsenal's goalie prevented a goal. If Victorio Bernard had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 54th minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Timoteo Ugutz's late challenge caught a Arsenal's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Timoteo Ugutz helped the player get up and apologised. A collision led to Huergo getting a freekick after 88 minutes play. Timoteo Ugutz hit a great ball. When Bernabe Joanes came up free with the goalie in the 89th minute, the Arsenal fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Bernabe Joanes couldn't finish the play. Despite being the better team, Arsenal failed to find the winning goal and were forced to settle for a single point.
