Pedro Cilio received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 5th minute. Rodrigo Banegas tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Gaston Rocio during the 12th minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. The supporters of Nelson AFC booed when Lapachito was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 12 match minutes in a wonderful position. Gaston Rocio didn't get a good kick on the ball. Ignacio Ekhi's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Rodrigo Banegas read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 16th minute of play. The referee blew the whistle for a penalty in the 21st minute of the game. One of Nelson AFC:s players had nearly got his shirt torn off by an opponent while getting free in front of Lapachito:s goal. Nelson AFC:s Faustino Lluques showed great skill when he stopped Timoteo Iturri:s penalty. Nereo Gaufred recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 25th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Ignacio Ekhis short, quick shot in the 26thth minute got Rodrigo Banegas to make great effort and bar the ball away from getting in. After having played for 27 minutes, Angel Frichoso managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Lapachito's supporters crossed their fingers, but Angel Frichoso was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Rodrigo Banegas didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Ignacio Ekhi went, in the 31st minute, to the upper right corner, 1-0 was the resulting score. Ignacio Ekhi who was well placed in front of the goal fired away a dangerous shot that in the 37thth minute tested the skills of Rodrigo Banegas when he managed to save the team from getting behind. Lapachito's Rodrigo Banegas played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Nereo Gaufred in the 39th minute of play. In the 40th minute of the match Nelson AFC got a corner. Lapachito's goalie ran out to the linesman to protest the call, but the linesman resolutely pointed his flag at the cornerflag. Jesus Lano ran over to the corner to take the kick. Ignacio Ekhi received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 42nd minute. In the 43rd minute, Gaston Rocio hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. 45 minutes into the match, Nelson AFC's Nereo Gaufred sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Rodrigo Banegas narrowly saved just below the crossbar. With a little luck, Lapachito's Rodrigo Banegas got control of the ball when Ignacio Ekhi tried to sneak it across the goal line. No-one was surprised that the home team were leading 1-0 at half-time.

Ignacio Ekhi blasted a shot towards the goal in the 51st minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Rodrigo Banegas having to make a save. 60 minutes into the match, Lapachito's goal looked a bit too open when Ignacio Ekhi came free, but Rodrigo Banegas reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. The audience was convinced that Nereo Gaufred's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Rodrigo Banegas was relentless in the 63rd minute of the game. Faustino Lluques showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Narciso Osoro in the 65th minute of the match. In the 69th minute the ball was on its way in behind Lapachito's goalkeeper Rodrigo Banegas, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. Nelson AFC's Nereo Gaufred got a good chance for a goal in the 70th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. An unexpectedly hard shot by Angel Frichoso in the 74th minute of play forced Nelson AFC's goalkeeper Faustino Lluques to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. In the 75th match minute, Nelson AFC was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Alejandro Igon to maneuver through the defense. After 76 minutes of play Lapachito's Gaston Rocio was too eager in his attempt to stop his opponent and brought him down. With that he got his second yellow card and was ordered off the ground. After 77 played minutes Lapachito got a freekick which was hit by Gaston Rocio. The audience was convinced that Nereo Gaufred's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Rodrigo Banegas was relentless in the 79th minute of the game. After having played for 82 minutes, Ignacio Ekhi managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Faustino Lluques breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. In the 90th minute, Angel Frichoso got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. In the 92nd minute, Nereo Gaufred made a precise shot to the right of Rodrigo Banegas. Lapachito's defense was at fault, and the scoreboard reflected the new score, 2-0. After a defensive mix-up in Lapachito's zone, Nereo Gaufred stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Rodrigo Banegas came out of the goal and Nereo Gaufred tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play.
