With a little luck, River Plate's Bernabe Jaunzuria got control of the ball when Felix Francho tried to sneak it across the goal line. After a defensive mix-up in Tocol AFC's zone, Denis Vermudo stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Braulio Cambranes came out of the goal and Denis Vermudo tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. If Tomás Elivareo had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 27th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Braulio Cambranes took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Denis Vermudo, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. 31 minutes into the match, Tocol AFC's goal looked a bit too open when Denis Vermudo came free, but Braulio Cambranes reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. After 33 played minutes Tocol AFC got a freekick which was hit by Tomás Gregory. Bernabe Jaunzuria took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Dante Oton, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Tomás Elivareo struck a weak shot in the 46th minute. Braulio Cambranes didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for River Plate. After a very even first half the match was still tied. The players went to their respective dressing rooms to discuss the tactics for the second half.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Dante Oton to make the kick off. Bernabe Jaunzuria made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Dante Oton in the 52nd minute of play. 54 minutes into the match, River Plate's goal looked a bit too open when Felix Francho came free, but Bernabe Jaunzuria reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Braulio Cambranes showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Denis Vermudo, who was totally free with the ball in the 63rd minute. Tomás Elivareo sent away a hard shot on goal in the 66th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. In the 68th minute, Miguel Semeno left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. The River Plate fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 0-1. After 73 played minutes River Plate got a freekick which was hit by Cecilio Pacorro. Ciriaco Sabino kicked well hit freekick during the 76th minute of the match. The attack was good, but when Dante Oton in the 80th minute was about to shoot he didn't kick quite good enough and the ball went high over goal. River Plate's Vinicio Lluc shoveled away a really nice long shot in the 88th minute of play. The shot was stopped by Braulio Cambranes but with some difficulty. In the 89th minute the ball was on its way in behind Tocol AFC's goalkeeper Braulio Cambranes, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. The River Plate players were relieved to hear the final whistle blow to end the match. The away crowd was happy to see their team win after a very tight game.
