Fidel Quilo could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 5th minute of the match, but Nicanor Balasi made a huge save. When Fidel Quilo came up free with the goalie in the 13th minute, the Independencia fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Fidel Quilo couldn't finish the play. After a defensive mix-up in Avellaneda's zone, Luciano Mancio stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Nicanor Balasi came out of the goal and Luciano Mancio tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. If Fidel Quilo had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 16th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. After 17 minutes of play, Independencia's Luciano Mancio made it 1-0 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Nicanor Balasi was left in no man's land by his defense there! 25 minutes into the match, Independencia's goal looked a bit too open when Victorio Ixidor came free, but Wilfredo Haritz reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. 28 minutes into the game, Carmelo Oalo cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 1-1. Wilfredo Haritz was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. In the 31st minute of the match Tomas Niva sent off a long shot with destination to the right of the goalkeeper, but Wilfredo Haritz skillfully saved the ball. The crowd rose to their feet as Luciano Mancio kicked a wonderful shot that went in to the left of a diving Nicanor Balasi. That made the score 2-1 in the 33 minute of play. Luciano Mancio received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 37th minute. Nicanor Balasi tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. The supporters of Independencia booed when Avellaneda was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 38 match minutes in a wonderful position. Cesar Ibañez didn't get a good kick on the ball. Fidel Quilo came free with the goalkeeper in the 40th minute of the match, and shot straight on target. The shot was a little too simple and Nicanor Balasi could save by the left post. If Luciano Mancio had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 44th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. In the 46th minute the ball was on its way in behind Avellaneda's goalkeeper Nicanor Balasi, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. All the noise was coming from the home fans when the whistle went for half-time. The home team had fought hardest to put themselves in a deserved lead.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Carmelo Oalo stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. Wilfredo Haritz showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Carmelo Oalo in the 73rd minute of the match. Victorio Ixidor sent away a hard shot on goal in the 75th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. In the 84th minute Carmelo Oalo shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Wilfredo Haritz saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. In the 90thth minute of the game Luciano Mancio who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but Avellaneda's Nicanor Balasi was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. Independencia walked away with a well-earned victory that was much celebrated by the crowd.
