After 34 minutes of play, Atahona's Mario Oidor made it 1-1 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Epifanio Ignado was left in no man's land by his defense there! DYP's Epifanio Ignado played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Diego Montel in the 37th minute of play. If Mario Oidor had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 46th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. The supporters of DYP booed when Atahona was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 49 match minutes in a wonderful position. Diego Montel didn't get a good kick on the ball. The fans had the chance to grab some refreshments as the whistle went for half-time. The score stood at 1-1 after a close first half.

After a rather tough play, Atahona's Julio Misael got a free kick in the 82nd minute. Atahona were unable to convert their possession into goals, allowing DYP to leave the ground with a draw.
