Leonel Bertran fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 7th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Maximo Florinio having to interfere. A collision led to Huaitiquina getting a freekick after 15 minutes play. Gervasio Soter hit a great ball. When the match had gone on for 19 minutes, Cirilo Solustiano took a quick shot and it went in 1-0 without a chance for Melchor Luken to make any attempt to save it. Melchor Luken was out of position in the 25 minute of play, and Cirilo Solustiano capitalized on the mistake with a soft shot into the goal. Cirilo Solustiano really showed his touch with that goal: 2-0. After a rather tough play, Independiente's Tadeo Lehoi got a free kick in the 28th minute. If Amancio Ostots had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 30th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. The Independiente fans' excitement grew in the 36th match minute when Independiente's Cirilo Solustiano looked to have a clear shot with the ball near the goal. The shot wasn't hard, but the ball still rolled over the goal line to make it 3-0 before the goalkeeper had a chance to intervene. All the noise was coming from the home fans when the whistle went for half-time. The home team had fought hardest to put themselves in a deserved lead.

When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Leonel Bertran made a kick off. Independiente's Maximo Florinio proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 52nd minute of the match, managed to save Independiente from getting a goal against them. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Leonel Bertran in the 54th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Maximo Florinio prevented the ball from getting in the gole. Jonas Romo kicked well hit freekick during the 55th minute of the match. If Zeledon Leguizamón had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 59th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. In the 66th minute Norberto Crispo shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Melchor Luken saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. When Zeledon Leguizamón was, once again, overly rough in his play he received his second yellow card and was ordered off the ground. 66 minutes had been played. A collision led to Independiente getting a freekick after 68 minutes play. Cirilo Solustiano hit a great ball. Huaitiquina's Amancio Ostots got a good chance for a goal in the 79th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. If Leonel Bertran had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 81st minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Amancio Ostots sent away a hard shot on goal in the 83rd minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. The supporters of Huaitiquina booed when Independiente was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 95 match minutes in a wonderful position. Jonas Romo didn't get a good kick on the ball. When the referee blew the final whistle, Independiente could leave the field as winners, despite Huaitiquina having more of the ball for most of the match.
