But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Modesto Inko couldn't finish the play. German Isauro succeeded in the game's 19th minute to shoot an unreachable shot under the crossbar and scored - 1-0. After 25 minutes, Modesto Inko mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the LoS pIoJoS F.C. and the Newells Old Boys players grew even worse after the yellow card. In the 25th match minute, LoS pIoJoS F.C. was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Modesto Inko to maneuver through the defense. Venancio Izotz received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 27th minute. Flavio Felo tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. In the 43rd match minute, LoS pIoJoS F.C. was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Artemio Stephen to maneuver through the defense. Newells Old Boys's Venancio Izotz got a good chance for a goal in the 45th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. After fighting hard for a draw in the first half, the players were able to take a much needed rest.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Venancio Izotz stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. 59 minutes into the match, Newells Old Boys's Clemente Oihan sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Flavio Felo narrowly saved just below the crossbar. In the 61st minute of the match, Gustavo Ermano got a very nice opportunity to score, but Flavio Felo was well-placed and pushed the ball away from the goal at the left post. The supporters of LoS pIoJoS F.C. booed when Newells Old Boys was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 62 match minutes in a wonderful position. Venancio Izotz didn't get a good kick on the ball.
