The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. When Carlos Raitin fell near the penalty area in the 9th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Varela's protests and gave Carlos Raitin a yellow card for diving instead. After 8 minutes of play, the referee blew the whistle. It was a penalty for Varela! Eusebio Marcones showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Saverio Ted in the 17th minute of the match. Leonides Baldovino fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 18th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Gualterio Naldo having to interfere. When Natalio Hanot came up free with the goalie in the 25th minute, the Majadita AFC fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Natalio Hanot couldn't finish the play. Varela's Gualterio Naldo played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Natalio Hanot in the 27th minute of play. With a little luck, Majadita AFC's Eusebio Marcones got control of the ball when Hugo Soter tried to sneak it across the goal line. After having played for 33 minutes, Saverio Ted managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Varela's supporters crossed their fingers, but Saverio Ted was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. The audience thought a goal was coming when Hugo Soter got free with Eusebio Marcones in the 35th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. After a rather tough play, Majadita AFC's Melchor Eyague got a free kick in the 35th minute. 37 minutes into the match, Majadita AFC's goalkeeper Eusebio Marcones had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Hugo Soter. If Hugo Soter had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 41st minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. After 44 minutes, Natalio Hanot mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Majadita AFC and the Varela players grew even worse after the yellow card. In the 44th minute, Natalio Hanot hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. If Saverio Ted had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 47th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Disappointed in the 0-1 score, the home team went to the dressing room to adjust tactics for the second half.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Leonides Baldovino to make the kick off. In the 57th minute the ball was on its way in behind Majadita AFC's goalkeeper Eusebio Marcones, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. Hugo Soter might have been able to make a better finish in the 58th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Eusebio Marcones. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Hugo Soter ran back to his position shaking his head. Eusebio Marcones made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Saverio Ted in the 59th minute of play. 62 minutes into the match, Varela's goalkeeper Gualterio Naldo had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Leonides Baldovino. 68 minutes into the match, Majadita AFC's goal looked a bit too open when Saverio Ted came free, but Eusebio Marcones reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Gualterio Naldo made an important save on a dangerous shot by Leonides Baldovino in the 77th minute. After a rather tough play, Varela's Primitivo Leheren got a free kick in the 79th minute. Eusebio Marcones made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Saverio Ted in the 84th minute of play. Eusebio Marcones took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Saverio Ted, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Natalio Hanot was shown his second yellow card after 87 minutes, following a rather ugly tackle on opponent. That was the end of his participation in the match. After 88 played minutes Majadita AFC got a freekick which was hit by Natalio Hanot. Primitivo Leheren took a chance and fired a shot far from the goal in the 89th minute, but it turned out to be a dangerous situation for Eusebio Marcones. Majadita AFC's goalkeeper really had to stretch himself to stop the ball from crossing the goal line. Majadita AFC's supporters were very happy and cheered loudly because their team had won after a very close match.
