When Javier Piorno came up free with the goalie in the 20th minute, the Union fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Javier Piorno couldn't finish the play. In the 22nd minute, Generoso Iztal left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. The Union fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 2-1. Christian Raymundo could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 30th minute of the match, but Higinio Ereinotz made a huge save. After 32 minutes, Niceto Raymundo mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the San Luis ARG and the Union players grew even worse after the yellow card. Niceto Raymundo kicked well hit freekick during the 32nd minute of the match. Genaro Sugar made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Javier Piorno in the 35th minute of play. If Christian Raymundo had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 36th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Higinio Ereinotz showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Dario Ponc, who was totally free with the ball in the 44th minute. When the referee blew for the end of the half the home team players were clearly happier, as they went in to the break leading 2-1.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Dario Ponc was the one to do the kick off. Niceto Raymundo hit a great freekick 55 minutes into the match. Javier Piornos short, quick shot in the 56thth minute got Genaro Sugar to make great effort and bar the ball away from getting in. The nice shot from Javier Piorno in the 60thth minute just in front of the goal should have ended in point on the board, but Genaro Sugar had a great feel for the game and superbly saved the ball from getting in by the left post. Christian Raymundo fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 62nd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Higinio Ereinotz having to interfere. Genaro Sugar took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Generoso Iztal, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Higinio Ereinotz made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Dario Ponc in the 70th minute of play. San Luis ARG's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Union the free kick. The supporters of Union booed when San Luis ARG was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 91 match minutes in a wonderful position. Ulises Pudes didn't get a good kick on the ball. In the 94th minute of the match Union got a corner. San Luis ARG's goalie ran out to the linesman to protest the call, but the linesman resolutely pointed his flag at the cornerflag. Salvador Silviano ran over to the corner to take the kick. After a defensive mix-up in San Luis ARG's zone, Albano Santxol stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Genaro Sugar came out of the goal and Albano Santxol tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. The crowd rose to their feet and cheered when the referee blew the final whistle. San Luis ARG had won after a very even match.
