Guaberto Onbera took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Higinio Mikelats, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Venancio Panpili's late challenge caught a Cortaderas's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Venancio Panpili helped the player get up and apologised. In the 24th match minute, Atletico Maria Grande was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Venancio Panpili to maneuver through the defense. Atletico Maria Grande were awarded a corner in the 50th minute after Cortaderas's defender lost control of the ball, allowing it to roll out over the line. Geronimo Ciceron took the corner. The corner led to Atletico Maria Grande's Nicasio Oalo getting away a dangerous shot that went just outside the goal. When the referee blew for the end of the half the home team players were clearly happier, as they went in to the break leading 1-0.
After some careless play in the Atletico Maria Grande defense, Camilo Muno kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Guaberto Onbera. The Atletico Maria Grande fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Guaberto Onbera should have stopped the shot. After some fancy dribbling in the 70th minute, Evaristo Sarracino managed to get in a good position for a shot. Atletico Maria Grande's supporters rose to their feet, but Evaristo Sarracino was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post.
