When Paulo Jakobe fell near the penalty area in the 16th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Castellanos's protests and gave Paulo Jakobe a yellow card for diving instead. In the 16th minute, Paulo Jakobe hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. The long shot by Prospero Fresco in the 20th minute really tested Sixto Garin's skills. The ball was on its way into the goal to the left of him when he managed to stretch himself and save the shot and avoid a goal. After having played for 23 minutes, Conrado Berbiz managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Castellanos's supporters crossed their fingers, but Conrado Berbiz was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Dinamo Zagreb's Sixto Garin proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 25th minute of the match, managed to save Dinamo Zagreb from getting a goal against them. Dinamo Zagreb's Sixto Garin played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Conrado Berbiz in the 26th minute of play. Conrado Berbiz blasted a shot towards the goal in the 28th minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Sixto Garin having to make a save. Feliciano Santikurtz made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Siro Gudesteo in the 31st minute of play. The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Conrado Berbiz was the one to do the kick off. With a left leg Sixto Garin saved Dinamo Zagreb from getting behind. Paulo Jakobe fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 62nd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Sixto Garin having to interfere. Feliciano Santikurtz showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Ladislao Blasco, who was totally free with the ball in the 74th minute. In the 76th minute, Prospero Fresco hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. If Esteban Aznaro had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 78th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Maximino Theobald sent away a hard shot on goal in the 80th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. The teams fought very hard right up to the final whistle. Both sets of players were happy to go away with a draw.
