In the 2nd minute, one of Palermo AFC:s players had the ball in front of the goal but got pushed and fell. The referee felt it was an obvious case and blew a penalty for Palermo AFC. Bartolo Ponciano walked up to take care of the penalty kick. He was aiming for the top corner, but the ball went just outside the post. In the 5th minute, Teo Carlomagno hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Fabricio Peter struck a weak shot in the 8th minute. Anibal Emmanuel didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Mercedes. Mercedes's Fabricio Peter got a good chance for a goal in the 12th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. In the 15th minute, Palermo AFC's goalie took a deep sigh of relief after Benjamin Claus fired away a hard shot that went just outside the left post. Fabricio Peter received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 27th minute. Anibal Emmanuel tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Fabricio Peter made a kick off. Anibal Emmanuel made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Fabricio Peter in the 52nd minute of play. Mercedes's Silvano Kimetz played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Nicolas Toro in the 53rd minute of play. After some careless play in the Palermo AFC defense, Fabricio Peter kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Anibal Emmanuel. The Palermo AFC fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Anibal Emmanuel should have stopped the shot.
