The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. Santiago Botello didn't get a good kick on the ball. Miguel Patxi took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Primitivo Daunte, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Primitivo Daunte received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 11th minute. Miguel Patxi tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Aquiles Rameriz fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 13th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Miguel Patxi having to interfere. The audience was convinced that Primitivo Daunte's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Miguel Patxi was relentless in the 14th minute of the game. Primitivo Daunte might have been able to make a better finish in the 18th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Miguel Patxi. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Primitivo Daunte ran back to his position shaking his head. Aquiles Rameriz might have been able to make a better finish in the 19th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Miguel Patxi. After 21 played minutes Club Atletico River Plate got a freekick which was hit by Alberto Kusko. Sergio Cordearo's shot from long distance in the 22nd minute was not bad at all, but Club Atletico River Plate's Miguel Patxi knew what was happening and pushed the ball into his arms just before it hit the right post. Primitivo Daunte recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 25th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. In the 28th minute the ball was on its way in behind Club Atletico River Plate's goalkeeper Miguel Patxi, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. los mariquitas were awarded a corner in the 29th minute after Club Atletico River Plate's defender lost control of the ball, allowing it to roll out over the line. Sergio Cordearo took the corner. The corner led los mariquitas's Sergio Cordearo to fire away a dangerous shot which Miguel Patxi despite some difficulties managed to get hold on the ball. Primitivo Daunte received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 31st minute. Miguel Patxi tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. In the 36th minute Jaime Fernendo shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Jacobo Matia saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. After a defensive mix-up in los mariquitas's zone, Zeledon Bernat stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Jacobo Matia came out of the goal and Zeledon Bernat tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Jacobo Matia showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Jaime Fernendo in the 42nd minute of the match. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Timoteo Uxio during the 43rd minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. Jaime Fernendo received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 44th minute. Jacobo Matia tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Zeledon Bernat's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Jacobo Matia read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 46th minute of play. When the referee blew for the end of the half the home team players were clearly happier, as they went in to the break leading 1-0.
Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Zeledon Bernat to make the kick off. In the 58th minute, los mariquitas's Baltasar Toro seemed to kick out at an opponent. The referee saw this and, surprisingly, showed Baltasar Toro the red card, dismissing him from the pitch. The coaching staff of los mariquitas protested bitterly, but the referee would have none of it, and Baltasar Toro had no choice but to slowly walk off the pitch. In the 58th minute, one of los mariquitas:s players had the ball in front of the goal but got pushed and fell. The referee felt it was an obvious case and blew a penalty for los mariquitas. 1-2 came through a penalty shot after 60 played minutes, when Club Atletico River Plate:s Luisito Hibai calmly waited for los mariquitas:s goalkeeper to move before he rolled in the ball by the right post. Jaime Fernendo sent away a hard shot on goal in the 63rd minute, but the ball hit the crossbar and went out. A very good chance for a goal. Jacobo Matia made a fantastic save in the 67th minute, when Jaime Fernendo sent off a good shot on target. 68 minutes into the match, Club Atletico River Plate's goal looked a bit too open when Aquiles Rameriz came free, but Miguel Patxi reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. In the 70th match minute, los mariquitas was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Primitivo Daunte to maneuver through the defense. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Zeledon Bernat in the 74th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Jacobo Matia prevented the ball from getting in the gole. In the 75th minute, Jaime Fernendo got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. Aquiles Rameriz fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 78th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Miguel Patxi having to interfere. Miguel Patxi took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Aquiles Rameriz, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. If Aquiles Rameriz had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 83rd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. los mariquitas's Jacobo Matia proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 92nd minute of the match, managed to save los mariquitas from getting a goal against them. In the 93rd minute, Zeledon Bernat fired away a shot on goal. He put a little to much spin on the ball and sent it just wide of the right post. Zeledon Bernat recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 95th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. los mariquitas's Aquiles Rameriz got a good chance for a goal in the 98th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. The away crowd were delighted with the way their team had played and cheered loudly when the final whistle sounded. Club Atletico River Plate walked away with the win, even though the match was close until the end.
