Melquiades Telesforo tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. 12 minutes into the match, Olaeta FC's goalkeeper Silvio Rito had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Niceto Frutos. In the 13th minute, Blas Bladi hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. When Anselmo Romo fell near the penalty area in the 14th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Olaeta FC's protests and gave Anselmo Romo a yellow card for diving instead. After 14 played minutes Olaeta FC got a freekick which was hit by Anselmo Romo. Olaeta FC's Silvio Rito played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Albano Martxot in the 15th minute of play. After a defensive mix-up in Olaeta FC's zone, Niceto Frutos stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Silvio Rito came out of the goal and Niceto Frutos tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. After 23 minutes, Ismael Gelacio mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Olaeta FC and the Ayajasco players grew even worse after the yellow card. In the 23rd match minute, Olaeta FC was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Ismael Gelacio to maneuver through the defense. Niceto Frutos could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 29th minute of the match, but Silvio Rito made a huge save. When Anselmo Romo was, once again, overly rough in his play he received his second yellow card and was ordered off the ground. 35 minutes had been played. After 36 played minutes Olaeta FC got a freekick which was hit by Anselmo Romo. The audience was convinced that Albano Martxot's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Silvio Rito was relentless in the 37th minute of the game. Niceto Frutos recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 42nd minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. If Albano Martxot had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 45th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Silvio Rito didn't succeed in stopping the ball in the 49th minute, which inside left pole to 1-0. When the referee blew for the end of the half the home team players were clearly happier, as they went in to the break leading 1-0.

After some fancy dribbling in the 56th minute, Humberto Bernad managed to get in a good position for a shot. Olaeta FC's supporters rose to their feet, but Humberto Bernad was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Melquiades Telesforo breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. If Rolando Berbiz had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 60th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Edelmiro Herrera charged in rather forcefully in the 64th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Edelmiro Herrera the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. Fabricio Monico hit a great freekick 66 minutes into the match. In the 66th minute of the match Ismael Gelacio shot from a long distance. The ball could have gone into the goal to the right of the goalkeeper, but Melquiades Telesforo showed his good shape when he easily got hold of the ball. When Rolando Berbiz came up free with the goalie in the 67th minute, the Olaeta FC fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Rolando Berbiz couldn't finish the play. The audience thought a goal was coming when Rolando Berbiz got free with Melquiades Telesforo in the 72nd minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. Albano Martxot sent away a hard shot on goal in the 73rd minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. A collision led to Olaeta FC getting a freekick after 75 minutes play. Blas Bladi hit a great ball. If Niceto Frutos had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 80th minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. In the 82nd minute, Amador Pio hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Rolando Berbiz blasted a shot towards the goal in the 94th minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Melquiades Telesforo having to make a save. Silvio Rito showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Albano Martxot, who was totally free with the ball in the 98th minute. For all the effort they put into the match, the Olaeta FC players left disappointed. They had fought hard, but couldn't break down the home team's defense. The match ended in a win for Ayajasco.
