An unexpectedly hard shot by Efrain Monico in the 13th minute of play forced Mallín's goalkeeper Eliseo Brion to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Roberto Betadur fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 15th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Eliseo Brion having to interfere. Eliseo Brion showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Efrain Monico, who was totally free with the ball in the 19th minute. If Efrain Monico had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 21st minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Eliseo Brion showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Roberto Betadur in the 22nd minute of the match. Inocencio Lano scored 1-1 in the 26th match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of Hernan Jatsu, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot. After some fancy dribbling in the 34th minute, Hector Ramone managed to get in a good position for a shot. Damaso Rufio's late challenge caught a Pastizales FC's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Damaso Rufio helped the player get up and apologised. The supporters of Pastizales FC booed when Mallín was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 43 match minutes in a wonderful position. They would have to work harder if they wanted to turn things around in the second half.

After having played for 65 minutes, Roberto Betadur managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Pastizales FC's supporters crossed their fingers, but Roberto Betadur was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Damaso Rufio was shown his second yellow card after 66 minutes, following a rather ugly tackle on opponent. That was the end of his participation in the match.
