With a little luck, Esperanza FC's Zacarias Rafel got control of the ball when Juan Marques tried to sneak it across the goal line. Atilano Diegotxe sent away a hard shot on goal in the 5th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. 7 minutes into the match, Ciudadela Sur's goal looked a bit too open when Ermegildo Ladio came free, but Zeledon Francesco reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. 13 minutes into the match, Ciudadela Sur's Dionisio Elequemedo broke free and took a long shot that unfortunately flew wide. A fine initiative that could have resulted in a goal. 14 minutes into the game, Ciriaco Totakoxe was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Esperanza FC's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Ciudadela Sur the free kick. If Ermegildo Ladio had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 19th minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. After a defensive mix-up in Ciudadela Sur's zone, Atilano Diegotxe stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Zeledon Francesco came out of the goal and Atilano Diegotxe tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Ermegildo Ladio might have been able to make a better finish in the 26th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Zeledon Francesco. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Ermegildo Ladio ran back to his position shaking his head. If Atilano Diegotxe had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 28th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. In the 31st match minute, Ciudadela Sur was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Aldo Frasquito to maneuver through the defense. An unexpectedly hard shot by Atilano Diegotxe in the 37th minute of play forced Ciudadela Sur's goalkeeper Zeledon Francesco to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. If Atilano Diegotxe had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 42nd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Ermegildo Ladio sent away a hard shot on goal in the 43rd minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. After a very even first half the match was still tied. The players went to their respective dressing rooms to discuss the tactics for the second half.
The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Alfredo Mambru stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. Atilano Diegotxe took the ball and in the 51 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Zeledon Francesco. Zeledon Francesco dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 0-1. If Ermegildo Ladio had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 55th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Juan Marques blasted a shot towards the goal in the 60th minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Zacarias Rafel having to make a save. Alfredo Mambru sent away a hard shot on goal in the 64th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. With an all-out effort, Esperanza FC's Zeledon Francesco threw himself towards the right post 67 minutes into the match and grabbed hold of the ball from Ermegildo Ladio, which otherwise would have been placed in the net. In the 73rd minute, Ermegildo Ladio got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. Ermegildo Ladio recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 74th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. 76 minutes into the match, Ciudadela Sur's goalkeeper Zeledon Francesco had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Atilano Diegotxe. Ermegildo Ladio struck a weak shot in the 78th minute. Zeledon Francesco didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Esperanza FC. Juan Marques fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 80th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Zacarias Rafel having to interfere. Esperanza FC's Zacarias Rafel played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Alfredo Mambru in the 82nd minute of play. 86 minutes into the match, Esperanza FC's goal looked a bit too open when Alfredo Mambru came free, but Zacarias Rafel reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Atilano Diegotxe sent away a hard shot on goal in the 88th minute, but the ball hit the crossbar and went out. A very good chance for a goal. After having played for 89 minutes, Ermegildo Ladio managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Esperanza FC's supporters crossed their fingers, but Ermegildo Ladio was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. In the 91st match minute, Ciudadela Sur was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Fernan Vedillo to maneuver through the defense. After 92 played minutes, Esperanza FC's Ambrosio Lorien shot from a long distance, and at first it looked like the ball was going into the goal, but the goalkeeper Zeledon Francesco came through and got his fingers on the ball before it flew over the goal line. He then quickly gripped the ball tighter before the forwards in Esperanza FC reached it. Atilano Diegotxe who was well placed in front of the goal fired away a dangerous shot that in the 95thth minute tested the skills of Zeledon Francesco when he managed to save the team from getting behind. When Atilano Diegotxe came up free with the goalie in the 97th minute, the Esperanza FC fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Atilano Diegotxe couldn't finish the play. Esperanza FC played a much better game than Ciudadela Sur and deserved their victory. The Ciudadela Sur players were clearly disappointed as they left the ground.
