An unexpectedly hard shot by Fabian Illart in the 6th minute of play forced Deportivo Merlo's goalkeeper Nestor Columbo to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. With a little luck, Patriotas Argentinos's Feliberto Tadzio got control of the ball when Ceferino Mikelats tried to sneak it across the goal line. Fabian Illart sent away a hard shot on goal in the 30th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Ceferino Mikelats's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Feliberto Tadzio read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 34th minute of play. In the 41st minute, Ciriaco Urtsua got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. In the 43rd minute Fabian Illart shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Nestor Columbo saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Ruben Nardo might have been able to make a better finish in the 44th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Nestor Columbo. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Ruben Nardo ran back to his position shaking his head. In the 45th minute, Gaston Valery hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Disappointed in the 0-1 score, the home team went to the dressing room to adjust tactics for the second half.

When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Fabian Illart made a kick off. Patriotas Argentinos's Feliberto Tadzio played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Ciriaco Urtsua in the 55th minute of play.
