The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. Fulgencio Henric sent away a hard shot on goal in the 4th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Primitivo Madeo kicked well hit freekick during the 6th minute of the match. The audience thought a goal was coming when Generoso Osoitz got free with Celedonio Lia in the 13th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. Generoso Osoitz's late challenge caught a Junín AFC's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Generoso Osoitz helped the player get up and apologised. Tobias Ilixo struck a weak shot in the 19th minute. Celedonio Lia didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for River Plate. Fulgencio Henric received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 22nd minute. Angel Txordon tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. An unexpectedly hard shot by Alejo Koldo in the 29th minute of play forced River Plate's goalkeeper Angel Txordon to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. If Fulgencio Henric had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 34th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Alejo Koldo received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 37th minute. Angel Txordon tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. A collision led to Junín AFC getting a freekick after 39 minutes play. Filomeno Azubeli hit a great ball. After a defensive mix-up in River Plate's zone, Alejo Koldo stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Angel Txordon came out of the goal and Alejo Koldo tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Tobias Ilixo was the one to do the kick off. Junín AFC's Alejo Koldo got a good chance for a goal in the 61st minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Alejo Koldo's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Angel Txordon read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 64th minute of play. Angel Txordon stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Alejo Koldo's shot from short distance in the 65th minute. In the 74th match minute, Junín AFC was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Alejo Koldo to maneuver through the defense. After some fancy dribbling in the 76th minute, Fulgencio Henric managed to get in a good position for a shot. Junín AFC's supporters rose to their feet, but Fulgencio Henric was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Angel Txordon breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. The crowd rose to their feet as Alejo Koldo kicked a wonderful shot that went in to the left of a diving Angel Txordon. That made the score 0-2 in the 79 minute of play. A hard shot 87 in the game by Fulgencio Henric from a close distance when the talented Angel Txordon managed to make a qualified save. River Plate's players were relieved. If Tobias Ilixo had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 96th minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. When the match was over Junín AFC could go home with a victory in their luggage, having controlled the game far better than River Plate throughout the match.
