If Omar Eliazar had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 10th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Gimnasia de La Plata's defense didn't have a chance, in the 13th minute, when Paulo Barros scored to the left of an out of position Eustaquio Chano, making the score, 1-0. Eustaquio Chano made an important save on a dangerous shot by Ernesto Oxarra in the 23rd minute. Eustaquio Chano showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Paulo Barros, who was totally free with the ball in the 24th minute. An unexpectedly hard shot by Rolando Orlandus in the 25th minute of play forced San Lorenzo's goalkeeper Lucas Loco to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Gimnasia de La Plata's Rolando Orlandus got a good chance for a goal in the 41st minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Ernesto Oxarra might have been able to make a better finish in the 43rd minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Eustaquio Chano. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Ernesto Oxarra ran back to his position shaking his head. Ernesto Oxarra sent away a hard shot on goal in the 47th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Af the end of the first half the score was 1-0. The first half had gone as expected for the home team.

The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for Rolando Orlandus to strike the kick off in the second half. The supporters of Gimnasia de La Plata booed when San Lorenzo was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 51 match minutes in a wonderful position. Fulgencio Enetz didn't get a good kick on the ball. Gimnasia de La Plata's attacker deliberately struck the ball against an opponent to win a corner for his team. The corner was taken by Eustacio Nataniel in the 54th minute. Eustaquio Chano breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Ernesto Oxarra fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 61st minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Eustaquio Chano having to interfere. Lucas Loco made a fantastic save in the 63rd minute, when Omar Eliazar sent off a good shot on target. Eustaquio Chano stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Ernesto Oxarra's shot from short distance in the 67th minute. Gimnasia de La Plata's Eustaquio Chano played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Ernesto Oxarra in the 68th minute of play. Paulo Barros sent away a hard shot on goal in the 72nd minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Rolando Orlandus sent away a hard shot on goal in the 76th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. In the 77th minute, Rolando Orlandus got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. In the 85th minute, Rogelio Piarres hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. If Paulo Barros had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 86th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. An unexpected shot in the 92nd minute by Omar Eliazar got the crowd on their feet, but to their dismay it went out on the left side. Paulo Barros sent away a hard shot on goal in the 95th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. There was no doubt that San Lorenzo were the better team. San Lorenzo's players enjoyed the ovations of the crowd after the victory.
