The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. After some fancy dribbling in the 6th minute, Nicolas Gomez managed to get in a good position for a shot. Monteverde's supporters rose to their feet, but Nicolas Gomez was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Clodoveo Nardo breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Clodoveo Nardo made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Robustiano Ledesma in the 11th minute of play. When the match had gone on for 12 minutes, Robustiano Ledesma took a quick shot and it went in 1-0 without a chance for Clodoveo Nardo to make any attempt to save it. 16 minutes into the match, Monteverde's Nicolas Gomez sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Clodoveo Nardo narrowly saved just below the crossbar. Clodoveo Nardo stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Robustiano Ledesma's shot from short distance in the 29th minute. In the 31st minute, Nicolas Gomez made a precise shot to the right of Clodoveo Nardo. Sportivo Ripoll's defense was at fault, and the scoreboard reflected the new score, 2-0. Clodoveo Nardo showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Robustiano Ledesma, who was totally free with the ball in the 35th minute. In the 45th minute, Gervasio Garaona hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. In the 46th minute the ball was on its way in behind Sportivo Ripoll's goalkeeper Clodoveo Nardo, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. No-one was surprised that the home team were leading 2-1 at half-time.
The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for Marcelino Salomone to strike the kick off in the second half. Joaquin Abeita fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 64th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Jacinto Macario having to interfere. In the 71st minute Robustiano Ledesma shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Clodoveo Nardo saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. After recieving a nice pass, Sportivo Ripoll's Roberto Cidro tried to score from far away in the 75th minute, but the ball went over the crossbar. Jacinto Macario didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Joaquin Abeita went, in the 80th minute, to the upper right corner, 2-2 was the resulting score. Nicolas Gomez received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 93rd minute. Clodoveo Nardo tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. The final whistle blew with the score still tied, and both teams left the pitch thinking about the missed chances that could have given their team the win.
