In the 4th minute, Cecilio Rios had to leave the field with a concussion. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Abelardo Garoa during the 4th minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. Abelardo Garoa hit a great freekick 5 minutes into the match. Enrique Oxel sent away a hard shot on goal in the 8th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. After a rather tough play, Atl. Libertador's Julio Orixe got a free kick in the 9th minute. Ermegildo Urdaspal was in a good position and managed to take a shot, but he missed just to the outside of the post. Piquete's Enrique Oxel got a good chance for a goal in the 15th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. After some fancy dribbling in the 17th minute, Ermegildo Urdaspal managed to get in a good position for a shot. Piquete's supporters rose to their feet, but Ermegildo Urdaspal was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Gaspar Bernabel breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Gaspar Bernabel showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Enrique Oxel, who was totally free with the ball in the 19th minute. An unexpectedly hard shot by Anastasio Guillen in the 29th minute of play forced Piquete's goalkeeper Leopoldo Benvide to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Honorato Martino received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 32nd minute. Leopoldo Benvide tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Enrique Oxel fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 37th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Gaspar Bernabel having to interfere. Enrique Oxel sent away a hard shot on goal in the 39th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Piquete's Leopoldo Benvide played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Anastasio Guillen in the 42nd minute of play. In the last second Leopoldo Benvide throw himself and got hold of the ball when Anastasio Guillen in the 49thth minute from his position got away a shot towards the right post. After fighting hard for a draw in the first half, the players were able to take a much needed rest.
The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Enrique Oxel was the one to do the kick off. Honorato Martino received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 54th minute. Leopoldo Benvide tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. 57 minutes into the match, Piquete's goal looked a bit too open when Honorato Martino came free, but Leopoldo Benvide reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Julio Orixe's late challenge caught a Piquete's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Julio Orixe helped the player get up and apologised. A collision led to Atl. Libertador getting a freekick after 60 minutes play. Julio Orixe hit a great ball. Gaspar Bernabel made a fantastic save in the 62nd minute, when Enrique Oxel sent off a good shot on target. If Anastasio Guillen had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 65th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. A collision led to Piquete getting a freekick after 66 minutes play. Artemio Cibran hit a great ball. In the 81st minute, Geronimo Fresco hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Anastasio Guillen received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 82nd minute. Leopoldo Benvide tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Enrique Oxel came free with the goalkeeper in the 86th minute of the match, and shot straight on target. The shot was a little too simple and Gaspar Bernabel could save by the left post. Enrique Oxel fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 87th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Gaspar Bernabel having to interfere. After some fancy dribbling in the 90th minute, Honorato Martino managed to get in a good position for a shot. Atl. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. In a very dangerous position, a player in Piquete fell when an opponent tried to get the ball from him in the 98th minute. Penalty! In the 100th minute there was a penalty for Atl. Libertador. Primitivo Muno stepped forward and shot the ball to the right of a diving Leopoldo Benvide. 1-0. Atl. Libertador's fans were exulted and cheered after their team won in a match that could easily have gone the other way.
