The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. Melquiades Elixio struck a weak shot in the 6th minute. Prospero Valery didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Vázques AFC. Vázques AFC's Virgilio Larpe shoveled away a really nice long shot in the 9th minute of play. The shot was stopped by Prospero Valery but with some difficulty. Andres Umbruso, 13 minutes into the match, dribbled the ball up the side of the field and decided to take a long shot at the goal. Unfortunately, the ball was poorly hit and landed closer to the corner than to the goal. Luis Colas sent away a hard shot on goal in the 16th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Club Deportivo San Andrés's Prospero Valery played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Melquiades Elixio in the 20th minute of play. The audience was convinced that Ovidio Cheche's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Ladislao Mendebal was relentless in the 22nd minute of the game. The supporters of Vázques AFC booed when Club Deportivo San Andrés was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 31 match minutes in a wonderful position. Ovidio Cheche didn't get a good kick on the ball. After a defensive mix-up in Vázques AFC's zone, Bartolo Taurino stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Ladislao Mendebal came out of the goal and Bartolo Taurino tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Bartolo Taurino sent away a hard shot on goal in the 46th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Jonatan Resto's late challenge caught a Club Deportivo San Andrés's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Jonatan Resto helped the player get up and apologised. Jonatan Resto hit a great freekick 48 minutes into the match. The crowd was extremely unhappy with the home team's performance in the first half. They were losing 0-1.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Melquiades Elixio stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. In the 59th minute, Atilano Daunte hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Ladislao Mendebal made a fantastic save in the 60th minute, when Ovidio Cheche sent off a good shot on target. After 70 minutes, Reynaldo Salomon mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Club Deportivo San Andrés and the Vázques AFC players grew even worse after the yellow card. After 70 played minutes Club Deportivo San Andrés got a freekick which was hit by Reynaldo Salomon. Ladislao Mendebal took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Bartolo Taurino, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. In the 83rd minute, Melquiades Elixio got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. Prospero Valery stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Luis Colas's shot from short distance in the 86th minute. The crowd rose to their feet as Club Deportivo San Andrés's Bartolo Taurino slotted home a wonderful shot that went in to the left of Ladislao Mendebal. That made the score 0-2 after 87 minutes of play. If Melquiades Elixio had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 94th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. 95 minutes into the game, Antonio Eguzki was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Club Deportivo San Andrés's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Vázques AFC the free kick. A collision led to Club Deportivo San Andrés getting a freekick after 96 minutes play. Antonio Eguzki hit a great ball. Club Deportivo San Andrés's Prospero Valery played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Luis Colas in the 97th minute of play. In the 98th minute, Modesto Dalmu had to leave the field with a concussion. Melquiades Elixio charged in rather forcefully in the 98th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Melquiades Elixio the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. After a rather tough play, Vázques AFC's Melquiades Elixio got a free kick in the 100th minute.
