Cosme Nabar took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Filomeno Chuse, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. After 15 minutes, Evelio Vermudo mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the F.C VELEZ and the Lyon players grew even worse after the yellow card. In the 17thth minute of the game Filomeno Chuse who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but F.C VELEZ's Cosme Nabar was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. The referee blew the whistle for a penalty in the 19th minute of the game. One of F.C VELEZ:s players had nearly got his shirt torn off by an opponent while getting free in front of Lyon:s goal. Cosme Nabar didn't succeed in stopping the ball in the 23rd minute, which inside left pole to 1-1. Cosme Nabar took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Filomeno Chuse, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Eustaquio Romo scored 1-2 in the 34th match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of Eugenio Gerazan, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot. In the 39th minute Filomeno Chuse shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Cosme Nabar saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. If Conrado Gumaro had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 42nd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. After having played for 44 minutes, Eustaquio Romo managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. F.C VELEZ's supporters crossed their fingers, but Eustaquio Romo was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Luck had favoured the away team in the first, and they walked off with a 1-2 lead.
Eustaquio Romo sent away a hard shot on goal in the 53rd minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. 55 minutes in the game, the ball went up into the seats when F.C VELEZ's Conrado Gumaro fired away a shot that was just a little bit too high. He walked away shaking his head. Filomeno Chuse received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 62nd minute. Cosme Nabar tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. After some fancy dribbling in the 67th minute, Silvio Oliverios managed to get in a good position for a shot. Lyon's supporters rose to their feet, but Silvio Oliverios was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Cosme Nabar breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Justino Lizer sent away a hard shot on goal in the 72nd minute, but the ball hit the crossbar and went out. A very good chance for a goal. Lyon's Justino Lizer got a good chance for a goal in the 78th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Bruno Inge hit a great freekick 83 minutes into the match. Conrado Gumaro fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 94th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Eugenio Gerazan having to interfere. Cosme Nabar came out of the goal in the 97th minute to try and stop a shot by Lyon's Justino Lizer. But to his dismay, Justino Lizer quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 3-2. For all the effort they put into the match, the F.C VELEZ players left disappointed. They had fought hard, but couldn't break down the home team's defense. The match ended in a win for Lyon.
